  Older residents of Wokingham were invited to exchange their old slippers for a brand new well-fitting pair free of charge on Wednesday November 23.   Trading Standards warning on fake vodka

  West Berkshire and Wokingham Trading Standards Service is warning that fake vodka may be in circulation in the area. This follows the seizure of just under 700 one-litre bottles of vodka from a premises in Woodley. Initial analysis of the vodka, branded as Drop Vodka, revealed that it contained methanol, potentially breaching a number of pieces of food law.   Crews tackle Wokingham office block blaze

  Dozens of firefighters have been tackling a large fire at an office block in Berkshire. Crews were called at about 16:00 GMT on Saturday to Mulberry Business Park in Wokingham. Resident Robert Hughes said he could see the flames and smell burning plastic. Fire crews managed to get the blaze under control using hose reel jets. The cause of the fire is being investigated.   Consultation begins on Fosters Residential Care Home, Woodley

  The future of a residential care home in Berkshire is in doubt because its buildings fall below recommended standards. Wokingham Borough Council has launched a 12-week consultation on Fosters Residential Care Home in Woodley. Stuart Rowbotham, commissioning director, said: “Because of the poor conditions it will require substantial work to bring it to modern standards”.
