    A woman from Reading has learnt to read and write almost 50 years after leaving school illiterate. Sue Chapman was unable to perform everyday tasks from opening a bank account to choosing food in a supermarket, until two years ago. Mrs Chapman said her illiteracy caused depression and made her a “social misfit” who never left the house.
