    People in Oxfordshire are being asked to take any scam letters or emails they receive to their local library during May, as part of a new initiative to help put a stop to scammers.
    It’s part of the Scams Awareness campaign run by Oxfordshire County Council’s Trading Standards Services.

    Thames Valley Police has released an E-fit of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an incident in Henley in which two teenage girls were injured.
    The incident happened in Mill Meadows between 6.30pm and 7pm on Sunday 15th April.
    Two girls, aged 14 and 15, were with friends in the park when a group of men approached them.

    Henley Business School’s Greenlands campus has been chosen as the venue for one of the region’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
    On Monday 25th June, around 4,000 guests will join Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh for a summer garden party, hosted by the Lords Lieutenant of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

    Blue confirmed to play Henley Festival

    Blue have been confirmed to play at this year’s Henley Festival. The boy band will perform on the Saturday night, as well as LuLu and the London Community Gospel Choir.

    Special constables numbers doubled in four years

    The number of special constables in Thames Valley Police has more than doubled in the last four years.
    A recruitment drive has seen the number of special constables increase from 246 in 2008 to 719 in 2012, with another 700 applications waiting to be processed.
    As a result the general public will see more officers on the streets.

    Robust rave response paying off

    Thames Valley Polices’ robust response to illegal music gatherings in rural Thames Valley area is paying off.
    In April, a rave organiser was given an Anti-Social Behaviour Order preventing him from organising raves in the Thames Valley Police area for the next three years. He was ordered to pay £3,000 compensation, a £1,500 fine, £15 surcharge and £80 court costs.

    The May bank holiday usually marks the beginning of the leisure boat and rowing season on the River Thames.
    However, boaters were warned at the weekend, by the Environment Agency, to stay away from the river due to dangerous currents, high water levels and debris causing navigational hazards in Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

    Trading Standards Seize Counterfeit Alcohol

    Oxfordshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service is warning businesses about the sale of unsafe alcohol, after nearly half of off-licenses visited in the county were found with stocks of suspected counterfeit alcohol.
    Trading Standards seized 274 bottles of various Vodka brands, wines and  whisky from six of the 13 off-licenses inspected, 229 of which have been confirmed as counterfeit.
    The worst case was bottles of Artic Ice which contained Isopropyl alcohol, an industrial solvent, commonly found in nail varnish remover and screen [...]

    This year’s May Fair, which was due to be held in Mill Meadows this Bank holiday Monday, has been cancelled.
    The chairman of the Henley Round Table, Nick Fox, informed View TV Henley yesterday that the council has instructed that it be cancelled due to the amount of water in the area.

    Students have rated the University of Reading as one of the best places to study in the country, according to a new survey.
    Reading was placed 12th in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2012, published on 26th April, out of 105 UK universities.
    The overall rankings reflect the opinions of a panel of students across 21 different categories, such as quality of teaching, social life, and academic and sporting facilities.
